The outcome of the meeting of the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE and the Interim Head of Missions at the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Cameroon, John G. Robinson, today July 27, 2026, has once again demonstrated the prospering bilateral ties between Cameroon and USA in the domain of transport.

The meeting between Minister Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE and Interim Head of Missions John G. Robinson was within the context of an official visit of the latter after his appointment in January 2026.

He came to rob minds with Minister Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE on four principal aspects: sea vessels fraudulently bearing Cameroon flag label; reform on the regulatory framework of ship registration and management; control of epidermis at the entry points of the country like airports and the strategic economic bilateral dialogue.

After acknowledging the long-standing bilateral relations existing between Cameroon and the USA, Minister Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE closely assisted by his technical staff provided explanations and clarifications to the august guest's preoccupations.

On the concern on sea vessels fraudulently bearing Cameroon flag label: Cameroon has since February 2026 suspended registrations and is progressively in collaboration with OFAC and the European Union suspending sea vessels fraudulently bearing Cameroon's label and flawing rules. The acute collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and US Embassy in inspecting suspected ships was saluted by the two Statesmen.

The preoccupation on the reform on the regulatory framework of ship registration and management: the document is ready since April 2026 awaiting validation.

On control of epidermis at the entry points of the country like airports: at the moment normal screening is ongoing at the Yaounde-Nsimalen Airport and Douala International Airport, and there is onground collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health and the civil aviation sector.

Lastly, on the strategic economic bilateral dialogue: axed on three objectives- boost the business climate between Cameroon and USA, identify trade and investment opportunities,  the strategic economic bilateral dialogue is slated for August 27, 2026 and the Ministry of Transport will be part of it.

At the end of the meeting, both parties were consensual that bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and USA in the domain of transport is blossoming.
